#emmaSweden postponed to June 2021

The safety and well-being of all conference participants is our priority. Based on information from the World Health Organization (WHO), and recommendations from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Public Health Agency of Sweden, we have decided to cancel this year’s emma conference in Jönköping, Sweden and delay it to June 2021.
We are really sorry about this decision, but we think it is the best that we can do in this unexpected and uncertain situation.
As next year we will start afresh with a new call for submissions, all proposed papers, posters and panels to emma2020 are, accordingly, released. With the conference now cancelled, we are also refunding 100% of delegate fees.
The postponement does not mean, however, that we cancel all our activities.
This year we are still awarding our annual emma Best Paper Award and publish a Journal of Media Business Studies (JOMBS) special issue featuring emma conference papers. Please, note that only full paper submissions can be considered for the emma Best Paper Award.
In contrast to previous years, and in the spirit of maintaining an exchange of research ideas and projects within our community, we invite all accepted authors (papers and posters) to share summaries of their work in the form of a short video. All submitted videos will be made available to emma members and emma2020 authors. We hope you use this opportunity to connect to other scholars.
Please check the attached file for further details about this year’s emma Best Paper Award, and Full Papers and Videos submission guidelines. Please, note that we are extending the deadline for full paper submissions until May 15.
In addition, JOMBS offers an online paper development workshop for authors who would like to receive feedback on their emma conference paper to support them in developing it to enhance chances of subsequent publication in the journal. Kindly mark June 3 in your calendars if you are interested in this opportunity. You will receive more information about this initiative soon.
Our President Ulrike Rohn will soon send out an email to our emma community with more information on how the current crisis will affect emma activities. This may include for instance, information about the AGA, the emma board elections, the emma Award, and the doctoral summer school.
Please note that emma will not grant a conference travel grant this year. Please also note that although conference registration fees will be reimbursed, membership fees for 2020 cannot and will not be reimbursed.     We would like to thank you all for your great support for emma2020 and we look forward to seeing you next year at emma2021 in Jönköping, Sweden. A complete timetable of emma2021 will be published as soon as possible. Stay healthy!
