Looking back at #emmaSweden

It’s a wrap! The 2021 Annual Conference of the European Media Management Association (emma) with the theme Media management and sustainability, took place in Jönköping from 27-29 October 2021. The conference was perfectly hosted and organized by Media, Management and Transformation Center (MMTC), Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), Jönköping University, Sweden, and took place both at JIBS and online. The early career colloquium consisted of 2 sessions with 9 presenters and was very well attended. Within the 7 tracks of the JOMBS paper development workshop, 20 papers were discussed by 3 reviewers. With 6 great plenary sessions with industry delegates and scholars and 24 parallel sessions with 97 papers/posters covering many important research streams in Media Management, we can say that #emmaSweden has been a great success!

We are so grateful that we were able to organize the emma conference after it was canceled due to COVID-19 in 2020. For many of the participants, it was the first physical conference in a long time.

In- and outgoing boardmembers

During the AGA we expressed our gratitude to the outgoing President Ulrike Röhn, who has served the emma board for 8,5 years of which 5,5 years as our president. What an amazing job she did with all the challenges faced. Also, Sari Virta (Secretary), Päivi Maijanen (Deputy President), Miguel Crespo (Summer School Host), and Sabine Baumann (Project Chair) were thanked for their great contributions as board members. We welcomed new board members John Oliver (President), Castulus Colo (Conference Organizer), Dinara Tokbaeva (Secretary), Ivana Kostovska (Co-opted member), and Denise Voci (Project Chair). Joaquin Cestino (Deputy President) and Bianca Harms (Communications portfolio) will continue on the emma board.
