The emma 2009 Conference, held at Paris ESC-EAP Business School, drew more than 75 delegates from Europe, North America and Australia making it the the most successful to date.
With nine plenary and panel sessions the conference featured forty papers on topics ranging from addressable advertising to the online extensions of niche media. EMMA’s 2009 Conference in Paris showed how fast emma is growing and how engaged its members are in taking media management and media economics forward, said Lucy Küng, emma President.
Lucy also thanked host Ghislain Deslandes and his team for the outstanding support provided in hosting the conference, maintaining the high standard set by Barcelona in 2008.
In addition to a strong programme, the conference also saw the awarding of the awarding of the 2008 and 2009 emma Awards to Don Alfonso Nieto of the University of Navarre and Viktor Shkulev, chairman of Russian magazine group, Hachette Filipacchi Skhkulev.
The host hotel, located in Paris historic Marais district, was the venue for a gala dinner which saw the awarding of the first annual emma best paper prize. The prize was awarded to Mart Ots of the Jonkping Media Management and Transformation Centre (MMTC), for his paper ‘Who is really the customer in customer value’?
Marts paper, alongside the two runners-up, is due to appear in a forthcoming edition of the International Journal on Media Management.
Most of the papers delivered at the conference are accessible by emma members from the Conference and Workshop Papers section of the forum.
